This Saturday 25 October is the last show EVER by The Rising End, Durban’s self proclaimed geeks of hardcore!!!!
View the event on facebook with ALL the details!
Every kid in Durban who is, or was, into hardcore will be there to see them off. Tight pants, baggy pants, cut off pants, camo pants, tattoos, no tattoos, tight shirts, baggy shirts, fancy coloured hair, beach hair, pompadours, makeup, no makeup, mini skirts, hippy skirts, heels, or sneakers. They have all been there, and will be there on Saturday.
Basically, if you are anywhere ELSE this weekend you will be the ONLY hardcore kid there.
Crossingpoint have shared a rehearsal room with them from their beginnings, shared the stage with them many many times, and just seen them grow from strength to strength in the humblest way possible. I’ve dug through my video archive and uncovererd some footage of their song “Architecture of Aggression” at an early show of theirs in November 2005? It’s something a little different and perhaps not what you expect and are used to these days, but hopefully thought provoking:

After that it looks like we will only be playing in the New Year again so come out this Saturday and freaking make it COUNT!!
Thank you Will, Aidan,Mark, Steve, Damien, and Matt (ex drummer) you helped reinforce the fact that hardcore is making a difference.
See you on Saturday!
“My first encounter with The Rising End was Aiden telling me about his vision to start a band and then him and mark coming over to my house to show me some riffs, at that stage they had no name, no members.
Back then Will and i used to hangout (skating) loads He always said how he wanted to be in a band so when the opportunity for him to jam bass with Aiden, mark and Steve came he stomped on it and when they heard his banchie screeming ability’s he was very quickly promoted to second vocalist. James the bass master joined the band along with Matt
(the first drummer) and the rest was HxC history. I remember them coming over to my house for a practice once and having a long debate afterwards trying to decide on a name. Aiden seemed to have always been stuck on “chainsaw death riot” haha!
One of the first thing that strikes you about The Rising End on stage is their light hearted but powerful and convicting message it something that is truly unique to them as a band and individuals. They have always had a sharp focus and stayed true to their beliefs after all these years wich is an amazing thing that gives testament to their character. They are definitely one of my favorite bands to watch(nationally and internationally), from their first show in the Winston pub to countrywide touring they always put in the same amount of blistering energy the the crowd eats up like a hot box cake!
I will miss them greatly for all the great times and bruised faces. They were such a great positive influence in our scene and it was an honour to play, dance, smash, laugh, head walk with them.”

“Walking into the old burn on umbilo in 2005 the last thing I expected to see was two dudes in a hxc band going off!!I was so excited to say the lest.I could not believe that there was a band like this in Durban!
I had just come back from the U.K and had gotten into hxc over there and thought Neshamah and after taste were the only bands over here doing the hxc thing………….I couldn’t wait to chat to one of the singers and I did it was Will.We chatted over his merch table …back then Will did right hand record distro. It was so rad to meet this hxc kid in SA,even though I was wearing a eighteen visions hoodie(I still dig this band) Will did not brush me off.
Will is the one of the major reasons how I joined crossingpoint. He told me about this awesome band that was playing later that night and then introduced me to Ross.I told Will and Ross to please keep a look out for me if any one needed a vocalist for a band.Ross and I exchanged numbers to hook up for church and to hang. Then I get a call like a week or so later to come and check out crossingpoint and try out to be the new singer!! Well one or two months later I,m in Crossingpoint and that’s me nearly 4 years in crossingpoint living a dream come true…THANK YOU WILL!!!!!!!
Another cool story about Will that made me feel rather special and part of the hxc scene with hardly even been home yet was this one……It was up risings and in the white room and the rising ends show was going so so off.Again I could not believe I was in South Africa! So durning the set Will dedicates our God is and awesome God to me!!! Wow I felt so honoured and special……THANX WILL!
The Rising End have done so much for so many people and will be greatly greatly missed! Many friendships were formed at there shows and many lives encouraged with hope through there message. Many circle pits, lots of gang vocals, mic sharing, hard slamming, huge pile on,s and freaked good music!!!
The South African scene has lost a “huge” band with a “huge” repetition for keeping things super rad at shows and music wise.
To all the brothers in The Rising End I will miss you dudes and hope and pray the best for you guys!
Hurry up and start something else!!!!”

“Q: ‘Why you guys outside?’
A: ‘They only gonna let us in to play the show and then we have to leave.’
The Rising End started out as this bunch of young kids, just wanting to have fun and provide a positive, Godly, life changing message! Being too young to be in Burn and too nerd to care! Life for these guys seemed to revolve around tea and Nodes of Ranvier. Oh ya, and zombies.
Never would¹ve guessed that this band would have eventually meant so much to me, as well as to everyone else in the Durban scene!
One of the few bands with lyrics worth reading, I would be on their website before their show trying to remember some lines to make sure id know what to scream just in case I got some mic time! Which is something that became the sole objective at a lot of the more recent shows!
Never has Durban ever witnessed more powerful and such huge pile-ons and sing alongs EVER! Actually I can easily say that no band in south Africa has ever accomplished the pile ons that these guys have!
Responsible for bringing so many kids together to sing along to the Durban Anthem that is Architecture of Progression!
I have had the priviledge of joining them on stage, as well as touring with them, helping them out on guitar, vocals and got to sing on their album!
They are such awesome dudes, and have been such a life changing band! I know they gonna rip in whatever future endeavors they choose to follow!
Shot guys!”
